Stimulating the Enthusiast Mind! Rare British-made convertible conversion... 1984 Mini Mayfair Convertible! I can't tell you how much my tear glands loosened up...

The Mini, beloved all over the world, is the car that started the enthusiast’s journey, and for those of you who are reading this, it is a very attractive car as the “car of your life…” because of its profound appeal….

A revolutionary invention left behind by Sir Alec Issigonis…. About 60 years have passed since the legend of the Mini… In this day and age, when the world is full of cars that have been turned into home appliances that run on a switch, the classic Mini can turn your favorite winding road into a Cherni Pass if it wants to…! Not only for enthusiasts, but also for people of all ages and genders, the classic Mini has become a unique icon that cannot be replaced by anything else.

The owner of this precious Mini that I’m going to introduce to you today is one of those people who have been completely absorbed in the charm of the Mini….

His first car was a Mini 1000, and after that, he drove a Mini van, then a Mini pickup, and on the way, he drove a car that was synonymous with the British light weight, and a 2-seater flat 4 from a neighboring country, but he has spent his whole life with Mini.

Even now, if you’re a Mini rider, you’re sure to nod your head and say, “I see…! He is an ironclad Mini owner who owns a “super extra…? The owner, who is an ironclad Mini freak, owned a Mini Convertible with a detachable top at an event over 30 years ago.

“A few were imported into Japan…”

“In the pictures on the internet. “There were a few imported in Japan…” “I’ve only seen one other one on the internet…”

That’s what the owner said…

The owner, who is very knowledgeable about Minis, nodded his head and said “I see…”.

At first glance, it may look like the “Rover Mini Gabriolets” that were made as a regular lot by ERA from 1991 to 1996… but this one has the soft top stored at the rear of the car, and the folded top remains large… the pillars and front roof remain, which is very different from this Mini’s unique design. It’s very different from this Mini’s unique design where the pillars and front roof remain.

In fact, in the early 1980s, before the official lot was sold by Rover, a small number of Mini Mayfairs were converted into convertibles and exported to the world by Keith Conversions, a group of enthusiasts in the UK.

Mini enthusiast owner has been searching for over 30 years... 1984 Mini Mayfair Convertible...

The owner came across this rare Mini Mayfair Convertible by Keith Conversions a few years ago when he stumbled upon it on the internet in another prefecture.

Since then, he has been fascinated by the unique style of this Mini, which is clearly different from the coupe style Mini.

“He said, “Everywhere I go, people always talk to me… It’s really fun to talk with other Mini enthusiasts who don’t know each other…!

It was really fun to talk with other Mini enthusiasts I didn’t know.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the 1984 Mini Mayfair Convertible in front of us…!

With 50 photos, a detailed video, and a driving video, you’re sure to get a real feel for this car…

Detailed video

The English White body of the Mini is as dazzling as the strong summer sunshine, and it certainly has a unique aura.

232597 No “A” at the end, so it is a British production model for overseas.

From the above, we can see that it was made by Rover as a regular Mayfair….

The first year registration on the vehicle inspection certificate is 1986, so I imagine that it was a left-hand drive model that was modified in the UK.

The center pillar is still intact and is connected to the roof to secure the overall rigidity of the vehicle….

Unfortunately, the top has deteriorated over time and will need to be rebuilt by a domestic company specializing in tops. However, the aluminum top frame that can be removed from the rails is still in good shape and shine, and I am sure it will regain its original shine including the restoration of the rear seats.

When the rear hard cover, which was made by the owner as a DIY project, is placed on top, it looks a little bit like a pickup…! It’s a bit like a pickup, but with a fancier look. I think it’s very attractive…!

Other than that, there are some rusty spots on the inside of the doors due to the lack of drains, but it’s only natural considering the age of the car… There are also some cracks in the paint at the front of the roof where the hooks for the top are located. But before that, there are some cracks in the paint. It’s something that can be sublimated as “I’m glad it survived”…!

Currently, the car is running on Mini Lite 8-spoke 12-inch wheels with Blizzaks, but a 10-inch kit disc has been installed to accommodate 10-inch wheels.

In addition to the Mini’s standard high-low kit, a new R40 sports muffler was installed. The original Mayfair gauges have been converted to the classic center gauges that any Mini freak would love to have, and with the addition of a Smiths tachometer and steering height adjuster, you’re sure to have an attractive classic Mini modification. It’s a great point of the specifications…!

Here’s a short video of the car in action…!

The roof has been removed and the weight has been further reduced, so you can see how it takes off very lightly and with ease….

According to the owner, the engine is all good.

The owner says that all the engine parts are in good condition. It is good to chase the “never ending fun” in the garage at night by restoring the top, interior and exterior, or to enjoy the condition as it is and chase the “never ending dream of restoration”. This was my memorable report on a hot summer day.

postscript

As mentioned above, it was a very hot summer day on the day of the interview, but I was very impressed by the owner’s generous expression and full of charm about the Mini….

The owner, who has had a variety of Mini experiences, had an image of a Mini that he had had in his mind for more than 30 years, but it came true a few years ago.

In the midst of his very busy life, his “unfulfilled dream of restoration” is a dilemma for him because he loves cars….

“I would like to pass on this “dream” to someone who loves Mini…”

That’s how I came up with the title of this exhibit….

The title that came to mind was honestly…

“Rare British Convertible Conversion… 1984 Mini Mayfair Convertible appears and my tear glands loosen up greatly…!

Along with the generous owner’s thoughts, please let your dreams of restoring this precious Keith conversion convertible Mini grow…!
