Chevrolet Corvette C1 1959 model. ・・・・ In the history of the automobile industry. It was born at a time in the history of the automobile industry when it was possible to make truly beautiful cars. The bliss of having a historic car in your hands....

The beautiful body lines are so dynamic that it is hard to believe they are from this world, the mid-century design interior stimulates the senses, and the “V” emblem seems to represent the pop and bright personality of this car. The Chevrolet Corvette C1 1959 model is a historic car that was born at a time in the history of the automobile industry when it was possible to create a truly beautiful car.

The attention to detail that can be seen throughout the car, such as the stunning and dynamic chrome ornamentation and the organic and beautiful “neckline” of the fiberglass body, will continue to exist even after the modern Corvette has disappeared and been forgotten. There is no doubt that the first generation Corvette will continue to exist long after the modern Corvette is gone and forgotten.

1959 Chevrolet Corvette C1…. 62 years have already passed since its production, and the fact that this unit still exists…! This car is truly a “survivor” that has survived through many different eras…!

The reason why this surviving car is so valuable is because of its age and rarity, but this early C1 Corvette is even more valuable because it was completely unaffected by the strict EPA regulations and the oil crisis that occurred twice in the 1970s. It is a survivor of the “golden age” of the automobile industry, and there is nothing that can compare to that era!

“Never again will a car be built as refined and unencumbered as this one…”

Today’s 1959 Corvette C1 is a symbol of America’s prosperity, loved by men and women of all ages, and has been handed down to future generations as a precious “survivor”.

American Mother Road "Route 66" and C1 Corvette

In the U.S. CBS drama “Route 66,” broadcast in Japan in 1962, a 1960 Corvette C1 travels the 4000 km historic mother road “Route 66” from Chicago to San Francisco. Today, with the construction of modern interstate highways, the Historic Mother Road “Route 66” unfortunately remains only in fragments in each state, but with the values of preserving the good old days of America, people are enjoying the historic street corners and signs that retain the wonderful atmosphere of that time. In fact…. In fact, I am one of those people who were strongly attracted to the American culture of that good time…. In the 1990s, when I was a university student in Oklahoma, I really wanted to experience the American culture symbolized by the Historic Route 66. I even rented a 100-year-old duplex along the historic route and lived there!

At that time, I was so shocked by the dynamic shape of the “Chevrolet Corvette C1 1959” that was displayed at the entrance of the Route 66 Museum, that I still can’t get it out of my mind even after several decades.

Such is the case with me…. I was so excited to conduct this interview, but I didn’t expect it…! In fact, I was very fortunate…! A brand new snowcrest white painted dazzling “Chevrolet Corvette C1, 1959″…!

The chrome “suspenders” were removed from the previous year’s design to reduce weight, giving the car a more swept-back appearance synonymous with Corvette speed, and it was a very popular model even in its home country of the United States before the rear was replaced by a ducktail in 1960…

Dazzling in snowcrest white... The 1959 Chevrolet Corvette C1 in front of me... We'll take a closer look!

It was imported right after the full restoration was completed in the U.S. And the new registration in Japan just ended in April 2021…! In other words… I don’t think there are many people who can be unconcerned in front of a “superb Historic C1” that will be inspected for 3 years.

In the trunk, there’s a license plate with a California tax tag (proof of tax payment) up to JULY 2020, a remnant of the car that was driven in California until last July… a nice California atmosphere still remains!

Here’s what the owner had to say about the car that almost made me flip over…! “He said, “Since I’m going to have Mr. Horikawa write the manuscript, please take your time to drive it! I was so excited again…! In order to regain my composure, I’d like to take a closer look at this survivor of history.

It’s a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette C1. The massive and powerful front mask is unimaginably light at 1,390 kg, and the aura of a “real American sports car” gives off a presence that changes the atmosphere around it!

The beautifully sculpted hardtop is truly stylish! The fiberglass hard top is easily removable and can be easily removed by two adults to create a more stylish and glamorous (!) topless body. This fiberglass hardtop can be easily removed, and two adults can easily enjoy the stylish and glamorous (!) topless body. Most of the Corvettes of this era did not come with a soft top due to storage space issues in the era when the gas tank capacity was increased. This Corvette also did not have a soft top, even though the lid was beautifully formed behind the seats.

There were 9,670 1959 models released, and this car was the 1798th one.

The original color of the car is unknown. The car is now repainted in Snowcrest White, and with the replacement of the white wall tires with BF Goodrich tires, the car has an atmosphere that is more “American Muscle Hot Rod” than “American Oldies”!

As you can see in the photos, every single chrome part looks shiny! The chrome plating looks beautiful against the Snowcrest White body color, and it even gives off an aura of feminine elegance!

This 1959 model even has a great design for its distinctive emblem! The Corvette emblem “V” is colorfully painted on the hollow surface, enlarged and painted in gold. This is a proud representation of the V8 engine and 12-volt electrical system under the hood, which is not seen on the late C1 model.

As you can see from the J59S serial number, the car was born in 1959 at the St. Louis, Missouri plant, known as “The Home of Corvette”, and the original 283 cubic inches (4.6L) has been replaced by the current 302 cubic inches (4.6L). The bore volume has been increased from the original 283 cubic inches (4.6L) to 302 cubic inches (4.9L), the Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley 600 CFM carb, and the exhaust headers have been replaced. When you open the engine hood, the red heat-resistant painted engine body and the beautiful chrome-plated air cleaner will tickle your manly heart…!

When you open the heavy door with excitement, you will find ・・・・

It was like a “treasure trove of mid-century American industrial design” overflowing with glitter. ・・・・!

The 1959 model year was the first to feature a black interior, and it’s in such superb, black-light condition that it’s a delight to both the eye and the mind of the rider!

The first thing that catches the eye is the aggressively symmetrical meter cluster with the speedometer in the center…! If you look closely, you can see that the lens of the meter cluster has been recessed since the ’59 model to reduce the glare of the flat lens of the ’58 model. The mid-century design flowed beautifully from the dash panel to the navigation seat, and the Corvette logo in classic font on the silver plate was so artistic that it almost made me swoon…! The fine silver lines on the door panel metal plates look like they were written by hand, in fact, most of the interior of the 1959 Corvette was handmade, and no matter where you look in the photos, you will see the most photogenic and wonderful “cockpit art”!

The seats have been modified from 1959, with new trailing radius rods for better handling and increased lateral support. Also, the 1959 C1 Corvette was the first to have a sun visor, and that feature has been retained.

The most impressive part is the material on the inside of the hard top… it has fine vinyl piping… it’s full of glitter! It’s full of the American atmosphere of the 1950s, and just looking at it makes my heart sing!

The Corvette is a cool car for both men and women in the U.S., but I’m not very tall (less than 170cm), so the seat position is perfect for me. And then… I check the shift position of the H-pattern, which has an extremely small horizontal gate width…. I imagined that it would be very heavy, so I did some bending exercises beforehand (laughs), but it was not as heavy as I expected.

One thing I felt here… The style of getting into the car from the feet up, sitting with the steering wheel in your arms, and throwing your legs straight out to control the ABC pedals is similar to the British style of classic Jaguars and MGs. This is where I feel the thoughts of Harley Earl, the developer of the early Corvette. This was the birth of the real American sports car, and I could feel the genuine story of the Corvette.

“Well…” I’m sorry for the wait….

Finally, with a heavenly feeling, I turned the ignition key of the V8 unit…!

“Zzzzzvaaaa…nnnn! (Please check out the 7 minute video at ・・・・.)

The sound of the explosive and dynamically robust engine is so wonderful that it will shake your heart and make you realize that this V8 unit is an attractive, lightly tuned small block engine that greatly overturns the image you might have imagined from its elegant and even graceful body color. It makes you realize that this V8 unit is an attractive lightly tuned small block engine.

The engine was started completely cold, but without any of the “rituals” that older cars have…. You can tell that it is in excellent condition. Listening to this sound, I was happy to be in the cockpit of the 50’s for a while, and after checking that the water temperature was up, I slowly started the car…!

The 302 cubic inch small block V8 engine produced about 220 hp at 4,600 rpm and

The 302 cubic inch small block V8 engine produces about 220 hp at 4,600 rpm and 41.5 kgm of torque at only 2,600 rpm. On the one hand, it is a massive machine with explosive acceleration that can send the lightweight 1390kg fiberglass body spinning out of control even in second gear, but on the other hand, it can also be driven slowly in third gear with light acceleration and a lot of torque. On the other hand, it is a massive machine with explosive acceleration.

As I got used to the car, when I stopped pressing the gas pedal carelessly, I felt like I understood how to enjoy the wonderfully controllable historic Corvette by relaxing my shoulders…. This is beautiful…!

And… I can’t say this out loud, but…. The moment the road opened up, I stepped on the gas pedal and accelerated in 3rd gear after securing my safety, and the feeling of warp-like acceleration was so wonderful that I can’t even choose the right words to describe it.

After arriving at the location where the fresh greenery was shining, I took photos and videos, and before I knew it, I had taken more than 500 photos for my 50-page article! The expression changes rapidly depending on the angle of view…! It’s so beautiful that you can even feel the elegant grace from the wonderfully photogenic body, and the massive and muscular image that changes from the start of the engine…. This fully restored 1959 Historic Corvette C1 has both….

It would make a great addition to any collection and would make for a very romantic time just looking at it…. It’s sensual to pull it out on a holiday and drive it around aimlessly. It was such a wonderful 1959 Corvette C1….

“You can find it at ・・・・. The bliss of owning a historic car from a time in the history of the automobile industry when it was possible to make truly beautiful cars…”

I was able to spend a truly “blissful time”.

This was my report….

For me, who admires and lives in the American Historic Route 66, and who has the greatest respect for the “generous receptiveness” of the American automobile culture with its deep pockets, this interview with the “Chevrolet Corvette C1 1959 model” was an exceptional and blissful experience…. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the owner for entrusting me with this precious car.

The owner is a collector of classic cars. He collects a wide range of classic cars, from pre-war to post-war European classic saloons such as Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Benz to British lightweight sports cars, and he takes the utmost pleasure in maintaining them with care and in good condition. He has been enjoying his wonderful collection in his garage as if it were a painting, but this time he asked us to help him organize his garage.

He entrusted everything to his doctor who knows classic cars well and enjoys “maintaining the best condition”, and his lifestyle of using and enjoying the best classic cars for different occasions is really wonderful and full of sensitivity. They enjoy “maintaining the best condition” and enjoy using their classic cars for different occasions.
