When I grab the steering wheel and step on the accelerator, even the usual cityscape seduces me with sensual sounds, allowing me to easily overcome convenience store speed bumps, run freely on highways and winding roads, and even run on a circuit if I feel like it. It is truly a versatile player that allows me to tolerate things that Italian bulls and red horses can never do.

Driving that Porsche with Tiptronic S… The Tiptronic of Porsche, which was created by BOSCH and ZF, has been renewed with high durability and is not just a regular automatic transmission. It is a system that senses the G-forces in the vertical and horizontal directions with sensors and shifts gears, controlling the throttle opening and acceleration and deceleration with an intelligent shift program, matching Porsche’s sports performance. With a wealth of knowledge and insight gained from their extensive collection of both domestic and foreign classic cars, as well as modern high-performance vehicles, they travel throughout Japan in a full-size camping car with their spouse and beloved dog. They are a very affable and lovely person.

They have a deep attachment to the final air-cooled 993 model, having owned several over the years, including the normal-looking 993 and finally transitioning to this Carrera S with a more dynamic wide body that they had been searching for. They have thoroughly enjoyed the versatility of this final air-cooled Porsche model, which can go anywhere without a clutch.

I could stare at it for hours… the truly cool appearance composed of curved surfaces that change expressions moment by moment as you change your viewing angle! Enthusiasts undoubtedly fall in love with this appearance!

The final 993 Carrera S looks incredibly contemporary with excellent contrast. The large Turbo wing that perfectly matches the wide body of this car like a living creature is set up! The “Variable Valve Exhaust,” a unique feature of this vehicle, enhances its appeal even further. As you can see in the video, it changes from a normal sound to an edgy large sound with the switch operation on the console. The start sound in large mode is particularly impressive…! It produces a high-pitched, stunning Porsche sound around 3,000 rpm…! The owner usually drives it in this mode, and even when shooting a video with a passenger, there are no unpleasant frequencies in the interior, and it is filled with cool sound, allowing you to experience its excellent acceleration at high rpm…!

The polymer coating on the body, the replacement of the stone guards that had signs of aging, the rubber molding around the sunroof, and the rubber seal at the door handle attachment points have all been repaired, and the vehicle has been maintained in excellent condition with only frequent engine oil changes, which are essential for an air-cooled engine.

“The 1997 final air-cooled Porsche 993 Carrera S with its exquisite body style and captivating M64 engine was truly a charming and wonderful specimen. During the interview, I couldn’t help but marvel at the superb craftsmanship and high manufacturing precision that far surpassed modern cars, from the contour of the fenders and thickness of the panels to the flat glass surface and texture of the body.

When I turned the key and idled the engine, the dry but gentle air-cooled sound of the 993 was clearly different from the air-cooled sounds I had heard in the past and had a modern and gentle image, dynamically changing with the variable valve and even moved me with its sensuous air-cooled sound.

Porsche is still an attractive presence for enthusiasts. I had been thinking of someday owning a narrow-body Porsche for over a decade, but when I drove the final air-cooled model with a versatile tiptronic transmission, I found myself drawn to the highest model of an endangered engine car in the age of electric vehicles.
