The 2002 Maserati Quattroporte V8 Evoluzione Cornes Serie Speciale...! This ultra-rare car, with only 340 units worldwide, features an engine derived from Ferrari and an Italian authentic interior that exudes eroticism, instantly mesmerizing both drivers and onlookers. It was truly a collector's item.

Among all the generations of the Quattroporte, the fourth generation's final model, the Quattroporte Evoluzione V8, stands out with its most compact size and captivating quality. A car exuding such an enchanting aura will likely never come again...

The ivory-like white color that subtly changes its hue with the shifting sunlight—this is “Bianco Birdcage.” The interior features “Cuoio,” a natural leather color that adds to its allure. In 1998, when Luca di Montezemolo took over Maserati under the Ferrari umbrella, the traditional almond-shaped gold clock made by La Salle, which had been a motif since the Maserati Royale, was removed. However, for the 50 limited-edition units ordered by Cornes from Italy, this gold clock with a crown remained as a cherished identity, and a brass plaque indicating the 50-unit limit was affixed to the center console.

The model we introduce today is the fourth-generation Quattroporte: the 2002 Maserati Quattroporte V8 Evoluzione Cornes Serie Speciale 48/50. In an era where the direction of internal combustion engines is undergoing significant transformation, this car, with its stunning Italian essence, captivates with an aura that suggests such enchantment may never appear again.

The subsequent fifth-generation Quattroporte, with the same engine as the F430, is highly attractive but has grown over 5 meters in length, adhering to modern car design principles. In contrast, the fourth-generation Quattroporte, now seen as the most compact in the series’ history, appears particularly innovative.

Designed by the master Marcello Gandini, this fourth-generation, final model Quattroporte, meaning “four doors,” epitomizes the unique and exquisite Italian design of the millennium era. Over twenty years have passed since its production, and as a model on the brink of becoming a neo-classic, the final late-stage models from 1998 onwards, meticulously managed by Ferrari, have become rare super sports sedans highly coveted by collectors worldwide.

Among the rare “final late-stage Evoluzione” models, with only 340 units released globally, the even rarer V8 version stands out.

The beautiful roar of the AM578 twin-turbo V8 engine, derived from Ferrari, resonates magnificently.

The luxurious Connolly leather seats, offering a sense of thickness and elegant texture at the touch.

Wood panels crafted from solid walnut, adding a rich accent.

Alcantara, soft and elegant like silk, yet flame-resistant, is seamlessly incorporated.

Such a world is unimaginable in cars from other countries, allowing one to fully enjoy the ultimate Italian design, which even evokes true eroticism. Stepping into the driver’s seat transports the driver into an extraordinary world.

The elegant and refined driving manners, producing a sensuous sound even at idle, embody a lady’s grace in regular driving and speed ranges. However, if fortunate enough to grip this car’s steering wheel, never forget its pedigree. As a super sports sedan, its suspension characteristics masterfully balance sportiness and comfort, and well-maintained models remain incredibly stable at high speeds.

And then…! The AM578 3.2L DOHC 32-valve V8 engine, with 335 hp at 6400 rpm, inheriting the “Maserati Biturbo” legacy with its twin-turbo configuration, propels the driver swiftly to nearly 70% of the 300 km/h marked speedometer without any turbo lag, thrilling the elegant rev counter.

The lady transforms dramatically with a single press of the accelerator—this transformation is the epitome of sensual eroticism. Falling in love with Maserati, being mesmerized by the noble lady before your eyes… From that moment, your sweet time with the V8 Evoluzione begins, initiating a honeymoon between you and this magnificent machine.

Enthusiasts around the world are captivated by the discontinued "Biturbo" lineage! Under Ferrari's management, the ultra-rare, final model Quattroporte Evoluzione received significant quality improvements, making its super sports sedan heritage all the more fascinating.

The fourth-generation Quattroporte was the first Maserati produced under Fiat’s ownership after Alejandro de Tomaso’s company was absorbed by Fiat in 1993. Manufactured from 1994 to 2001, this model stands out for its notably compact dimensions, making it the most diminutive among its predecessors and successors. The design of the squared-off rear wheel arches, reminiscent of the Lamborghini Countach, is a hallmark of Marcello Gandini, the Italian industrial design maestro who crafted this vehicle.

The compact form of the fourth-generation Quattroporte, especially the super sports sedan “Evoluzione,” continues to excite enthusiasts worldwide, largely due to its now-discontinued lineage.

The roots of this model trace back to the Maserati Biturbo, introduced in 1981 as a competitor to the BMW M3. The fourth-generation Quattroporte was based on the Maserati Ghibli, which itself was a successor to the 222, an evolution of the original Biturbo. With a wheelbase extended by a mere 45mm to accommodate four doors, this compact sports sedan exemplifies Gandini’s design magic. Enthusiasts are particularly passionate about the twin-turbo (Biturbo in Italian) configuration of this super sports sedan.

The fourth-generation Quattroporte made its world debut at the Turin Motor Show in April 1994, with sales commencing later that year. While the initial models were remarkable, the later models achieved a legendary status. In July 1997, Ferrari acquired a 50% stake in Maserati and initiated a comprehensive overhaul of Maserati’s historic production facilities. This led to significant improvements in manufacturing methods and quality control. Under the new Ferrari management, the refined Quattroporte Evoluzione, featuring over 400 new or improved components out of 800 major parts, was launched in 1998 as the late-stage model.

Production of the fourth-generation Quattroporte ceased in May 2001, with just over 2,400 units produced. Of these, 730 were Evoluzione variants, but only 340 of these were the V8 model, making it exceedingly rare.

Cornes & Co., Maserati’s official importer in Japan, commissioned a limited production run of the Quattroporte in its final year, resulting in the “Cornes Serie Speciale” limited to 50 units. Available in both V6 and V8 Evoluzione variants, all featured automatic transmissions. This special edition was the only Quattroporte to include a Maserati badge on the C-pillar and, uniquely, it retained the La Salle almond-shaped gold clock—a traditional motif since the Maserati Royale—which had been removed from other Quattroporte models due to Ferrari’s influence.

The fourth-generation Quattroporte, born during a transitional period in Maserati’s history, particularly the late-stage Evoluzione model and the pinnacle twin-turbo V8 Evoluzione, has ascended to the status of a “collector’s dream.” Today, it is a highly coveted piece, so rare that it is almost impossible to find, leaving enthusiasts to wait for that serendipitous encounter.
