"The original SUV with a unique development history. It turns the city into a resort...! The most fun car for open driving...! The last lot of Kajiva Mork is A car for the collector's mind..."
With such a fun car in front of me, it would be foolish to write about the car’s history as usual… I’ll leave that for later this time…!
The recent extreme heat (from early summer to late autumn) has been very hard on classic cars and their owners, mechanically, physically, and mentally. As long as you don’t mind the stares of people on the street, the best time to enjoy a classic open-top car is in winter…!
If you put on warm clothes and turn on the heater, it’s just like running with your feet in a kotatsu….
Once you know what you’re doing, there’s nothing better than driving a convertible in winter…!
If it is a topless Mork, it is even more special….
It’s a completely different concept from a standard convertible car. It is a rare car that instantly gives you a taste of an extraordinary world, and when driven fully open, it gives the driver a truly rich and enjoyable experience….
The Mork has a unique chassis layout with tires on all four corners of the body, similar to the Mini’s racing karts, and even just looking at it from the outside, one can imagine the racy driving experience….
The body of the Mork is so light that it moves forward easily even when pushed by hand, and its unparalleled body style conveys a sense of freedom and an excitingly light atmosphere…!
Please take a look at the detailed video!
The owner, who is a very friendly classic car collector, told us, “Since you’re writing this article, take your time to drive it! I’m so happy to hear that! After cleaning the car and putting on the temporary license plate, we spent about an hour, well… a lot of time, enjoying a wonderful drive in the open air in winter… yes, we had a blissful time!
First of all, I want to tell you how impressed I was! So I’ll leave the details for later!
The sky blue body color that stands in front of you makes this car really pop, and it was first registered in Japan in 1995.
Let's get into the open air Mork first!"
It was first registered in 1995 in Japan, but it was produced around 1993, and it appears to be the last lot of officially imported units.
Let’s try to get in… The first thing you notice when you get into the car is that it’s much roomier than the Mini. The 990cc engine, managed by a single SU carburetor, has been very well maintained by the owner, and it starts up very well even when cold. The engine wakes up full of energy and the center muffler produces the same exhaust as the Mini.
With the soft top gracefully removed, this Mork has a great sense of freedom…! The open feeling of the Jeep explodes even closer to the road…! The feeling of openness is something that enthusiasts can’t get enough of….
Driving a car has never been so much fun. ・・・・・!
This car is the most fun to drive, with a four-speed manual transmission that is quick and easy to get into, and a sense of freedom! I never knew that driving a car could be so much fun! I never knew that driving a car could be so much fun!” It reminds me of the “slightly faint feeling in my late teens” when I first drove a manual car…such a feeling!
While overwhelmingly feeling the presence of the 12-inch wheels and tires stepping on all four corners, shifting up and down to match the engine’s RPM and driving smoothly is completely different from the feeling of being accustomed to modern automatic transmissions… It’s truly an exceptional feeling…!
When you drive it, you will naturally feel a smile on your face that makes no sense at all (laughs), and you will know that your right brain and body are naturally enjoying it!
Also, there are those who still need a soft top for storage and management reasons….
The French company Discount-Cabrio still manufactures and sells a wide variety of soft tops worldwide, and the Casiba-Moque soft tops are available for purchase.

It’s no wonder that this car has exploded in popularity in the world’s most famous resorts on the French Riviera, the Australian Coast and the Caribbean, and that James Bond and Brigitte Bardot have been captivated by it! Even if you are driving on the main road in your neighborhood, you will naturally notice that it has a unique presence that gives you a resort-like feeling of freedom.
"The Mini Cooper was born. "The forgotten legacy of Sir Alec Issigonis, the genius who created the Mini Cooper. A car whose marketing magic changed its value. Kajiva Mork."
No matter how good the quality of the product is, it may not sell at all if the target is not defined or the name is not catchy. The Mini-Moak is truly a famous car that was created by marketing magic that was very successful by changing its location and image. This is why even today, when its production is over, the Mork is still an indispensable part of famous resorts around the world.
The original and final Cagiva Mork is the final model of the original Mini Mork, of which more than 50,000 were produced in the UK, Australia and Portugal from 1964, and only 1,500 were produced in a short period between 1991 and 1993.
Mini Cooper developer Sir Alec Issigonis had designed several military vehicles before developing the Mini, mainly during World War II, when BMC (British Motor Corporation) commissioned Sir Alec Issigonis to create an ultra-light vehicle suitable for military deployment by helicopter. The engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. were adapted from the Mini to reduce development costs for military purposes.
However, there were some obvious drawbacks to using this car for military purposes. The most obvious were the minimum ground clearance and the fact that it was not 4WD. Unfortunately, the project failed and the American Jeep version of the Mini Cooper never saw the light of day as a military vehicle.
However, BMC didn’t give up, and performed what we would call “marketing magic”. They gave the vehicle the universally loved name “Donkey-Moak” and began manufacturing it for resorts in the Caribbean, California, and Australia. This marketing magic of changing places, changing names was a huge success! The Mork, the first SUV in the history of mankind, became so popular as a recreational vehicle that in 1990, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Casiva bought the production rights and equipment and began to produce the Mork. In 1990, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Cagiva acquired the rights and equipment to produce the Mork, and it was produced under the Cagiva name for the last three years of its existence until 1993. It has been used in countless resorts and tropical islands as rental cars, hotel cars, and cabs, and continues to attract people with its liberating atmosphere.
The final lot of Kajiva Mork, with its dazzling pop of blue... Afterword.
The owner, who collects a wide range of art from modern art to classical paintings and truly enjoys art in his daily life, has a very beautiful classic saloon such as a Rolls-Royce and a pre-war Mercedes-Benz in his clean garage. He loves his classic saloons so much that he keeps them in excellent condition by entrusting a spare key for each car from the duplicate key in the garage to his doctor, whom he has known for many years, to take care of any problems before they occur.
“I love my car too much and I need to get rid of it…”
This is the owner’s reason for wanting to sell the car. I’m sure that this article will bring a smile to the face of the new owner who is reading this article….
The reason why I impulsively wrote my impressions first, instead of writing about this and that, is that I wanted to express that “it’s a really fun car! The reason why I wrote the impressions first, instead of writing about this and that, is that I wanted to express “a really fun car!
The original SUV with a rare development history, turning the city into a resort…! The most fun car to drive with an open feeling! I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that “the last lot of Kajiba Mork is a car that satisfies the collector’s mind…”.

What is the “Supremacy” Estate Sale?
Estate Sale®︎Supremacy is the Japanese version of the North American culture of estate sale, which introduces cars with the owner’s thoughts and feelings through interview-based manuscript creation to organize things and minds.
It is completely different from buying a car at a low price and leaving nothing behind in terms of culture or passing it on to the next generation. Instead, we honestly express the owner’s thoughts and feelings, and provide guidance and mediation to ensure that the car is passed on to the next generation while leaving the memories firmly in the mind.
