From its birth to its demise... the last Subaru rear-drive Sambar that I have witnessed in my life...! You will never see a light van like this again! The '11 Subaru Sambar Van Dias TV-1, which was given the highest maintenance, was a car that even a Subaruist would want to have by his side...!

February 29, 2012 …

If it's not a Sambar, I'm stuck at work...! Please don't just discontinue this car...!

The light car production of SUBARU (Fuji Heavy Industries), which began with the Subaru 360 and continued for 54 years, came to an end…without accepting the screams from customers and enthusiasts nationwide.

Soon after the late Tetsuji Kawakami took over as manager of the Yomiuri Giants, the team won its first championship…
The word “leisure” became fashionable.
The second Ikeda Cabinet implemented the “Income Doubling Plan” while the capital city was in the midst of a construction rush for the Tokyo Olympics.
In the midst of the turbulent postwar reconstruction and rapid economic growth of the Showa period, the first Subaru Sambar was born on February 1, 1961, three years after the launch of the Subaru 360.

The 1964 Tokyo Olympics provided a great opportunity for Japan’s first expressways and urban expressways to be built, but there were still almost no “paved roads” in Japan at that time. Cars with loads of goods and other cargo were driving through rough roads and steep inclines…. The Japanese people were beginning to hear the term “personal car” and were longing for the appearance of a car that could be used for “leisure” activities, which were becoming popular on holidays.

The car was put on the market after overcoming an ascent test with four passengers on a continuous steep gradient of 1,000 meters above sea level on the then unpaved Akagi mountain road in Gunma Prefecture. The rear engine drive train and 4-wheel independent suspension of the “Subaru 360”, which were developed with the “enthusiasm of the Showa era” of all the people involved in the development, were used as they were. The “Subaru Sambar,” which inherited the “ride comfort unlike any other commercial vehicle,” has the ability to transport goods on rough roads without putting a burden on them and the ability to climb steep inclines due to the large traction provided by the engine mounted in a low position under the rear cargo bed. It also had excellent ability to climb steep slopes due to the large traction provided by the engine mounted in a low position under the rear cargo bed, and it won the hearts of shopkeepers nationwide…! Within a year of its launch, it surpassed the Subaru 360 in sales and became a very popular car, supporting the high economic growth of the Showa period, which was centered on the people and stores that overflowed with vigor….

From 1961 to 2012, a cumulative total of 3.7 million cars were produced over a 51-year period…! This is about half of the 7.97 million light cars produced by Subaru, and it has supported not only the backbone of Subaru, but also the Japanese economy.

Owners who know the charm of the Sambar that supported the high growth period of the Showa era.... I want to own a legendary Sambar someday...! After many years of searching, we have found a 2011 RR-2WD, 5-speed manual supercharged, final model Sambar made by Subaru...!

The Subaru rear-engine system, which the owner had seen since childhood, was a legend to him as well. The owner was looking for a car that he could use for his outdoor lifestyle and with the feeling of “owning a piece of furniture”.

The 3-speed AT would put too much stress on the engine at highway speeds, so they narrowed their search to a 5-speed manual transmission vehicle. He came across this last model Sambar with full original interior and exterior, no rust from body to underbody, and a very clean engine compartment.

This owner is a person who does “Thorough Maintenance” on several cars he cares for…! He is a person who does “Thorough Maintenance…! He wants to drive it carefully for a lifetime, so when he bought this Sambar, he changed the timing belt, water pump, and renewed the fan belt. In addition, when the vehicle was lifted for a safety inspection the following month, a small amount of brake fluid seepage was found. That’s it! The left and right front brake calipers, rear wheel cylinders, and brake-related overhaul were done at a well-known Sambar specialty store in Saitama Prefecture.

The interior is also very clean. The interior is also clean and beautiful. The interior has just been cleaned with total interior repair. As for the slightly damaged driver’s seat, they found a good condition seat and replaced it, and now it is in a very impressive condition.

As you can see in the video.
Gentle dent on the right front hood.
Lightly scratched on the right side mirror.
Pinky fingernail sized scratch on the left side mirror.
Pinnail size scratch on the edge of the rear hatch.
These are the traces of the car’s history.
We think it is good to fix them or leave them as a taste…….

Although the legendary rear engine remains, the 6th generation Sambar, which evolved to the final model, has a 4-wheel independent suspension system with struts in the front and trailing arms in the rear, and its road-following performance is outstanding…! The ride comfort, which was called “Subaru cushion” in the old days, and the driving performance of the rear engine are wonderful things that would win the hearts of store owners in the old days and enthusiasts in the present day…!

The SOHC 658cc EN07 engine is located so low that the rear bumper can be opened for maintenance. The light turning nose that only a rear engine with such a low center of gravity can provide is amazing…! Roll and tuck in as you turn the steering wheel…! The unique cornering with supercharged, naturally accelerating from low speed and truncheoned rear is addictive even if you are not an enthusiast…!
And because the engine is located in the rear, it is quieter than you would expect from a light van…! The identity of the unique Sambar has been condensed in abundance…!

You can enjoy the charm of the last model of Subaru Sambar in good condition.

From the background that reflects the “Showa Era” that “everyone” who yearns for this car has lived through, the desire to one day drive the “legendary Subaru Sambar”…. The final model of the Subaru Sambar is a precious car that conveys the history of Subaru’s light manufacturing for more than half a century.
A small light van…but a colorful part of life….
I am deeply moved by this “truly wonderful vehicle” which can enrich our lifestyle….

2011model SUBARU Sambar Van Diaz TV-1 5MT.. Afterword...

The fully original car is so dazzling that it bounces off the winter light.
Reflecting the owner’s thorough maintenance efforts, it was the last model Subaru Sambar with a fresh impression that left a very good impression.

The owner was determined to keep the car for the rest of its life while using it in outdoor life from time to time. However, the owner had decided to let go of the car with a “heartrending decision” due to the outbreak of an unavoidable garage situation….

I always think that it is the greatest merit for the “new owner” to be able to introduce such a thoroughly worked on car as it is, and that “you can’t find it even if you look for it….encounter is everything”….

From its birth to its demise, the last Subaru rear-drive Sambar that I have witnessed with my own life…! Never again will there be a light van like this! The ’11 Subaru Sambar Van Dias TV-1, which was given the highest maintenance, was a car that no Subaruist would want to be without…!

Perhaps some of you who have read this far may have seen the history of the Subaru Sambar from your childhood with the same feelings as this owner….

Please come to Saitama Prefecture to see this well-maintained, one-of-a-kind car….

Estate Sale®︎Spremacy is the Japanese version of the North American cultural estate sale, which introduces cars that are filled with the owner’s thoughts and feelings through manuscript preparation based on interviews, and organizes goods and minds.
Unlike a cheap purchase that leaves nothing behind, we guide and mediate the owner to honestly express his/her feelings and ensure that the memories are passed on to the next generation while leaving the hearts of the owners firmly intact.

We conduct detailed interviews with the current owner, including past maintenance records and repair history, and cover whether or not the vehicle has been in an accident. If there is a history of major accidents, or if the current owner’s ownership history is extremely short and we do not know the details, we will decline the interview.
